How to make an alternate led flasher using 555 Timer Chip !

Let us play with some classics today – The 555 time chip .

This project will blink 2 led turn by turn to create a railway signal like effect .

Materials Required :

555 timer Chip

(1) 10K ohm Resistor

(1) 1K ohm Resistor

(2) 240 ohm Resistors

(2) Led

Some Jumper Wires

Breadboard

A working Brain

Lets Get Started !

Procedure :

(1) Place 555 Chip on bread board

1

(2) Connect Pin 1 To Ground Line

(3) Connect Pin 8 To VCC Line

3

(4) Connect 1k (BROWN-BLACK-RED) Ohm Resistor between pin 7 and pin 8

4

(5) Connect Pin 2 To Pin 6

5

(6) Connect Pin 4 to pin 8

6

(7) Connect a Cathode of a 100uf capacitor to negative rail of breadboard and anode to pin 6

7

(8) Connect 10k (BROWN-BLACK-ORANGE)  Ohm Resistor from pin 7 of chip to anode of capacitor.

(9) Now connect pin 3 of timer to an empty row on breadboard .

9

(10) Connect a 240 ohm resistor from pin 3 to another unused row

10

(11) Connect A led(Cathode) from 240 ohm(RED-RED-BROWN) resistor to(anode) Positive rail

11

(12) Place another led on breadboard and connect its cathode to negative rail (ground) of breadboard and anode to pin 3 of chip .

12

(13) Connect Your power source and see the magic !

And Finally Its complete !

{NOTE: you can change the blinking delay by increasing or decreasing the capacitance of capacitor !}

Happy Hacking !
